The Vitara is an excellent buy. The price is good, it's frugal (a friend gets 6.5 L/100km in mixed driving) and reliable.

If you want to buy new please take note that a facelift, with new turbo engines, will be released within the next month or two.

aaah the fabled turbocharged zooki engine.... been "coming next month" for about the last 3 years... so I will continue to hold my breath. Looking to keep for more than 5 years so the reliability of the turbo might come into play.

Really? All the photos on the website are that of the current Vitara. The website is the first place you should update.

Now is the time. . Even Toyota with their super conservative approach introduced only turbo petrol Corolla Hatches this month.

Personally I think turbo petrols are cheaper and dare I say more reliable than small turbo diesel cars (eg the turbo diesel Corolla that I drive).

Bonus points for you! Was this copied from a social media page somewhere because the website is outdated then?

So, did SA get new engines or not?

That vertical radiator cover is ugly! The horizontal in the background is MUCH more beautiful!

The photos on https://www.suzukiauto.co.za/new-cars/vitara/ seem to be of the new one. However only the non turbo 1.6L engine is listed .

The face lift 1.6 has been introduced, the turbo variant will come in about 2 or 3 months time with the new Swift Sport

    Good evening everyone,

On Wednesday I spent some time on the Suzuki website and read that the face lifted ALLGRIP Vitara will also hit the roads with an auto box as well as 1.0 and 1.4 litre turbo engines. And then, yesterday, I went to a Suzuki dealer in Pretoria to see if they have them on the floor yet. They had one face lifted Vitara on the floor albeit not an ALLGRIP. When I enquired about the 1.4 litre turbo engine the salesman told me that this one they have on the floor still has the "old" 1.6 litre engine. I then told him I am confused because I'm sure I read that the face lifted Vitaras will have turbo engines. He then told me the Vitaras with the turbo engines are destined for the European market and it has not been finally decided whether the turbo engines will come to SA, or not, and that the face lifted Vitaras in SA might actually keep the 1.6 non-turbo engines.

    Now, I am really confused.

What is the truth? Turbo or non-turbo?

    Keep well.

    Johann

Like I said, the turbo engines have been coming "next month" for the past 3 years. I very much doubt Suzuki SA will bring in the turbo....ever.
